Nato a Majano (UD), nel 1948, si laurea in Economia e Commercio all’Università degli Studi di Trieste. Nel 1973 è presidente della società Lamborghini Spa, azienda produttrice di sci e abbigliamento sportivo.
Dal 1984 al 1991, con funzioni di presidente e amministratore delegato, porta al successo la società Abaco SpA di Tolmezzo, azienda produttrice di cucine componibili, che grazie a un piano di sviluppo mirato ottiene ampi consensi negli Stati Uniti.
Nel 2002 assume l’incarico di Presidente di FederlegnoArredo che manterrà fino al 2008. Negli stessi anni rientra in Confindustria quale Membro di Giunta e Membro del Consiglio Direttivo.
Dal 1999 al 2011 è anche Presidente di CATAS, centro di ricerca e laboratorio prove nel settore del legno e arredo, laboratorio che ha ottenuto grandi consensi a livello internazionale.
Fa parte del Consiglio Direttivo del Comitato Leonardo.
Nel 2011 viene rieletto Presidente di FederlegnoArredo ed entra in Confindustria come membro della Giunta. Dal mese di giugno 2014, con la fusione per incorporazione di Cosmit SpA nella società Federlegno Arredo srl e la nascita di Federlegno Arredo Eventi SpA, ha assunto l’incarico di Presidente della neonata società.
Nell’ottobre 2014 viene nominato Presidente del Salone del Mobile di Milano.
Da sempre particolarmente attento alle relazioni internazionali, negli ultimi anni assume importanti incarichi che lo rendono uno dei protagonisti di primo piano nello sviluppo delle relazioni economiche dell’Italia nel mondo, in particolare con Russia e Cina. Dal 2006 al 2009 è membro del Consiglio di Amministrazione dell’ICE, Istituto per il Commercio con l’Estero.
È Vice Presidente in carica della Camera di Commercio Italo-Russa.
Nel giugno 2014, in occasione della missione istituzionale a Pechino con il premier italiano Matteo Renzi, diviene membro del nascente Business Forum Italia Cina.

Starting from October 2014 he has become President of Salone del Mobile Milano.
